Jordan & Karalyn's Engagement Session
I have walked by the Summerland Rotary Pier several times this winter and dreamed of doing a photo session down on the pathway. The twinkle lights beckon you for an enchanted evening stroll. I finally had a couple who wanted to do a daytime to evening session, so this was obviously my first choice.
Karalyn and Jordan met on 'Plenty of Fish'. In the big sea of possibilities, they were able to find one another and it seems there was an instant connection. It even turns out, they must have crossed paths with each other and not even knowing it, as they had similar roots in the Summerland Baptist Church.
Karalyn shared that her fiancé loves the outdoors, and while she isn't typically that type of gal, she is enjoying a new appreciation for it through the lens of Jordan's eyes. I love this so much. I still remember when Dana, my husband, took me to my first ever skateboard competition, something he loved to do at the time. I had no interest prior to the event, but after seeing his passion and love for the sport, I could appreciate these athletes on a whole new level. And yes, I say athletes, because they have incredible skill that took hours to hone, and have an incredible drive to perform. I watched one guy take a nasty fall, leave in an ambulance, only to come back later that day and finish the completion. I think he even placed second, or something like that.
Karalyn and Jordan are enduring a long distance relationship, while she finishes school and Jordan works in the Kootneys. This winter break is actually the last time they will be together in person, until a month before their wedding. It's incredible how attentive Jordan was to Karalyn during our session, and you can just see Karalyn look at him with such love and devotion all ready. They even share a sentimental story about her engagement ring, that the stone is actually from her grandmother's ring. A love legacy continues.
Engagement sessions are so much fun, but they are also an important part of a wedding couple's experience with a photographer. It allows us to get to know each other. I hear more bits about your love story, allowing me to personalize more of your wedding day experience to you. It also allows us to get comfortable with each other before your big day. Of course, it is always possible to establish a connection the day of, but I always find the wedding day flows so much nicer when we have spent time together prior.
Bring on Okanagan Wedding Season 2023! It's going to be sweet!
